I couldn't resist buying this issue just for the model on the cover, how lovely she looks with her frame of daisies.
I love to see little traces of the original owner of things and was delighted to find that this magazine has a few, including the lip print above.
I love this illustration, I wonder if it was shown to Cornelia?
Hey, the Beatles are there! I just adore the colors and design of the front page. I wish i could go around wearing daisy's like that. I also love the vintage sleepwear, so cute

I just love this! I'm always looking for old magazines at vintage fairs, I found a few national geographic magazines from the 60's and was fascinated by the little period details. I'd be half tempted to use this magazine for collaging but its just too nice to cut-up!
ReplyDeleteI adore that photo of Colleen Corby on the cover, and I have always wondered just what was inside this particular issue, so thank you for sharing! I love how there are some traces left by the previous owner, as well — it just gives the magazine a bit more life, I think!
ReplyDeletehow delightful! Colleen Corby was everywhere in the 60s! I think its funny that they mention that 'no extreme short hairstyles were seen.' I dont know why, but they obviously decided to mention that as if it was a point of concern.
ReplyDeleteEither way, these magazines are really adorable. I don't have the patience for ebay so i don't often bid. If they come up on Etsy i might buy them but they can be pretty pricey!
Thank you for posting and sharing these! I love looking at old magazines from the 50s and 60s, and one of my favorite things about these pages here is how "Help!" was still called by the working title "8 Arms to Hold You" in one article. Actually looking at Beatles articles from back then fascinates me. It's, in some ways, a more accurate portrait because it's not colored by the god-like reputation they have now. They were still just pop stars. Immensely popular pop stars, yes, but they didn't quite carry the weight they do now. Very nifty!
ReplyDeleteCheers,

What a fantastic cover photo of Colleen Corby! She is one of my favourite 60s models. Thanks for sharing.
